Background
As the student population diversifies more varied approaches to learning,
teaching and assessment are required. The TLC project aims to empower
lecturers to develop a more diverse range of ‘innovative’ assessments to
allow students to work in creative, non-written or partly written
formats.
Could you write a reflective case study for the TLC website?
We are currently looking for more examples of non-written or partly
written assessments that can be shared with other lecturers through our
website. The project is based in the subject areas of hospitality, sport,
leisure and tourism, but welcomes contributions from lecturers working in
different subject disciplines. Payments are available to lecturers who
would like to contribute by writing a reflective case study based on their
assessment, using a template developed by the project team. We are also
interested in photographs, video and audio recordings of students involved
in the assessments. The TLC website links the case studies to relevant
assessment theory. Currently assessments are grouped under three modes:
oral (e.g. interviews, role-play, oral examinations), visual (e.g.
annotated albums, academic posters, video) and practical (e.g.running live
events, Practical Assessed Structured Scenarios). For more information
visit the website today and make contact with the project team to discuss
your ideas.
