Subject: Call for Papers - European Conference on Complex Systems 07,
Dresden

Dear friends and colleagues,

the European Conference on Complex Systems 2007 will take place from
October 1-3 in Dresden and feature invited talks by:

- Dario Floreano:
Science, Technology, and Applications of Swarm Robotics
- Peter Fromherz:
Hybrid Systems of Brain Tissue and Microelectronics
- Albert Goldbeter:
The Origin of Rhythmic Behavior in Regulated Biological Systems
- Neil F. Johnson:
Complexity in Human Activity: Conflicts, Currencies and Crimes
- Stephan Mertens:
  The Complexity of Computation
- Marc Newman:
Structure and Function in Complex Networks
- Denis Noble:
Principle of Systems Biology Illustrated Using the Virtual Heart
- Karl Sigmund:
The Evolution of Cooperation: Simple Games and Complex Societies
- Stephen Smale:
  Learning, Machine and Biological
- Bernardo Huberman:
  Social Dynamics in Cyberspace
- David Stark:
  Historical Network Analysis
- Guy Theraulaz:
  Biological Principles of Swarm Intelligence
- Misha Tsodyks
- Paul Verschure
- and others (to be announced shortly).

You are now invited to submit a long paper (up to 15 pages, presentation
time 40 minutes), a short paper (up to 6 pages, 20 minutes), or a poster
abstract (1 page) in any of the following fields:

- Bio-Inspired Modelling
- Biological Systems
- Cognition
- Complex Systems Methods
- Information Technology Modelling
- Networks
- Social Systems

Submitted papers should contain original, unpublished results relevant for
complex systems research. Long paper submissions will be judged according to
highest standards and refereed by three experts, short ones by two, and
poster abstracts by one.

Papers and poster abstracts should be submitted online at
    http://www.trafficforum.org/dresden

and formatted according to the template files downloadable there.

The deadline for paper and poster submissions is

    March 31, 2007.

Notifications about acceptance decisions by the program committee will be
given on July 16, 2007. In case of requested revisions, the final version
will be due by July 23, 2007.

Accepted papers will appear in a Conference Proceedings, and selected
contributions will most probably be published in a special issue of a
leading complex systems research journal.

Furthermore, our conference provides the possibility to participate in the
EU Showcase of Complexity Projects on October 6 and in the following
Satellite Conferences on October 4 and 5, 2007:

- Complex Networks: Dynamics and Topology Interplay
- Developmental Systems Biology: From Molecular Feedback Loops to
  Spatio-Temporal Patterns
- Genetic and Biological Networks: Models, Dynamics, and Simulations
- Collective and Collaborative Robotics
- Heterogeneous Agent Systems and Complex Networks
- Dynamics on and of Complex Networks
- Engineering Environment-Mediated Multiagent Systems
- Evolution and Game Theory
- Emergent Properties in Natural and Artificial Complex Systems
- Social Websites: Complex Dynamics and Structure
- Enhancing Social Interaction: Recommendation Systems, Reputation, P2P
  and Trust
- Interacting Agents, Complexity and Inter-Disciplinary Applications
- Molecular Docking, Complexity, and Optimization
- Global versus Local Dynamics on Networks
- Multi-Agents for Modeling Complex Systems
- Satellite Conference on Logistics Networks
- Critical Infrastructures as Complex Systems
- Synchronization and Emergent Coordination

Early registration fees start from 210 EUR. It is recommended to book your
hotel, soon, as our conference overlaps with the tourist season. Limited
financial support is available for participants from new EU member states.
See the conference webpage at

    http://www.trafficforum.org/dresden

for registration details and other useful information.

Best wishes,

Jürgen Jost and Dirk Helbing (Program Committee Chairs)
