NEW EDITOR NEEDED FOR ‘POLICY WORLD’
The Social Policy Association is looking for a new editor for Policy
World the Association’s newsletter. This is an important and exciting
opportunity for someone who is interested in contributing a valuable
service to the social policy community whilst also developing their
skills in publishing and communication media. It is also a high profile
position as Policy World is the public ‘voice’ of the SPA.
Policy World is published twice a year: once in advance of the Social Policy
Association (SPA) Annual conference (carrying pre-conference publicity
and items pertinent to the Annual General Meeting of the SPA such as
calls for elections – around March/April each year) and once after the
conference (including a post-conference report – around
October/November each year). It includes a news section and a themed
section which provides the opportunity to draw on a range of
contributors, including those from outside the academic community: for
example politicians, pressure groups and think tanks have contributed
items in the past.
Recent issues have included Where Next for Social Policy? A discussion
of the future of social policy as an academic subject. Can We Make
Poverty History? A review of the 2005 global poverty agenda. A Divided
Germany? A review of social policy developments in Germany ahead of its
hosting the 2006 World Cup and Social Policy in East Asia, A collection
of essays on social policy development in a region of increasing
interest to many social policy academics
Anyone interested in this position should initially contact the SPA
Hon. Secretary, Tess Ridge ([log in to unmask]) by 30th June 2007.
