Dear Colleague,
I am extremely pleased to invite you to this Social Market Foundation
seminar, being held with the kind support of Partnership Assurance, at
which we will look at how societal changes might impact on our retirement
choices.
Can we 'afford' to be old in the coming years? Our changing demographics
mean that in the future life expectancy will continue to rise, and this
has profound implications for the way our lives will be lived, and the
choices we will need to make regarding our lifestyles. Although the
evidence is not clear cut where the impact that older people will have on
care services is concerned, early research seems to suggest that people
will live long and healthy lives, with illnesses being in the later
stages. These later years might well see periods of care, either in our
own homes or residential accommodation, and it is increasingly the case
that current or even future pension provision is unlikely to be able to
pay for that care. How might the assets tied up in our homes meet these
future needs, and in a complex but nascent market, who can we trust to
advise us as to the right course of action where releasing those assets
are concerned?
We very much hope you will be able to join us. If you can, or have any
questions or queries, please contact Myriam Ben Ammar on
[log in to unmask] or call 020 7227 4412.
Best wishes
Valerie Johnson
