I popped into the Antiquarian Book Fair at Olympia in London
and on one of the stands was a bundle of early 19th manuscripts from the Bishop of Durham's then solicitors relating to cases involving some of the lead mines
documents include
a.. 1810 ms plans of Shildon & Belsdon veins
b.. a law suit with the Derwent mining company re diverting of River Derwent,
c.. something to do with the Quaker Company of the Vein of Lead in Blanchland
d.. a letter of 1786
e.. theft of materials from Acton smelt mills & other misc drafts of leases etc.
I was surprised how many bits and pieces there were.
Date range is mostly 1800-1820
if anyone is on here and interested I will send you the dealer's name - I don't see why he should have a free advert - unless you *must* have it this weekend, better to wait till next week as the prices at this fair are top whack... reality will doubtless set in afterwards!
regards
