Hi All
The Museum Software Foundation (MSF) have been working on a Federated
Search project
http://museumsoftwarefoundation.org/cb/sharedProjectInfo.do?proj_id=8. We
have been using google style search techniques to index databases directly,
and provide extremely fast retrieval rates. The technology we are using
scales to billions of records and makes building search infrastructure very
easy.
All the source code is open source and written in java. It currently
requires jboss to operate effectively, but the components could be used in
any JavaEE platform.
We are hoping to have a completed pre-prototype implementation for people to
view within a week.
If anyone on the list is interested in joining the project, please feel free
to submit a join request on the website. Our proposal document is also
available to download if anyone is interested.
Best Wishes
David Ellis
