Dear all,
I am involved in a systematic review and have produced a large no of
results - about 40,000 in all. I have found that Endnote is not suited to
the purpose of coping with large numbers of references in a concentrated
burst but rather, building up a library over a period of time and (as a
librarian) dealing with a smaller no of hits. The company who makes
Endnote assures me that it should take 1000 hits at a time and I have
tried smaller and smaller batches (100, 500 up to the download max.
permitted by Ovid which is 1000). However, I am thinking that an access
database would be better. I tested the 'transfer' capacity in a rather
rough and ready database (which was fine) but can't quite seem to get the
field structure cracked.
So, I wonder if anyone could share
(1) Their experiences of coping with this volume of results; how did you
store them in a database and distribute them (say in a text files)? I
would need to get rid of duplicate refs. of course.
(2) Has anyone constructed an Access database for this already and would
you be willing to share the design with me? I am not getting paid for
this but I would ensure credit would be given where it is due!
(3) Any other information/advice whatsoever relating to these issues!
With gratitude in advance and anticipation
