Hi everyone
This e-mail is mainly aimed at Libraries working with students.
We are currently reviewing our practices in relation to students with
dyslexia.
We are interested in finding out what other healthcare libraries do to
support dyslexic students in their work, and also in where the boundaries
are between support offered centrally by an academic institution and the
responsibilities of library staff.
In particular:
1. Does anyone offer or support a “buddy” system where a member of
library or university staff is available to provide specific one-to-one
support to a dyslexic student?
2. To what extent do you support dyslexic students in use of the
library catalogue, particularly bearing in mind that catalogues are used
for renewing and requesting books on-line and out of normal library hours?
3. What assistance do you give for dyslexic students who need to
make database searches?
We would be grateful for your thoughts/experiences, as well as anything
more formal ie policies.
I will be happy to summarise for the list.
Many thanks
