ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
DATE: Wednesday 27th June 2007
VENUE: City of Sunderland College: Usworth Sixth Form College, Stephenson Road, Washington, NE37 2NH [Journal Landmark Award for Best Public Sector Building]
Today's students are increasingly sophisticated users of technology, presenting new opportunities and challenges to colleges and schools in equipping them with the skills to become effective independent learners.
Digital literacy requires not only technical expertise, but awareness of the wider legal and ethical framework of copyright and plagiarism. Students have never required such an extensive range of information skills [i-skills] to enable them to achieve their full academic potential and acquire the transferable skills vital for the modern workforce.
Teachers, lecturers and librarians need to be able to confidently navigate the new information and learning landscape.
This conference, hosted by City of Sunderland College, will equip attendees with a toolkit of innovative interactive i-skills tutorials, including the Beacon award-winning
"How to Copy Right!" You will receive a free CD containing all i-skills tutorials in the toolkit to take away with you, plus the How To Copy Right! tutorial. Keynote speakers will provide the background to e-resources and copyright for learning in the new digital landscape.
