20 June is World Refugee Day. To mark it, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR)
and the UNA-UK Young Professionals Network are jointly hosting an event
titled 'Refugee Youth: Using Sport to Bridge the Divide' which will
highlight the important role that sport can and does play in helping young
refugees.
The event will take place on World Refugee Day, 20 June, from 7pm to
8.30pm at the LEWIS Media Centre, Millbank, London SW1P 4RS. Coffee and
tea will be served from 6.30pm.
The keynote speaker will be Bemma Donkoh, head of UNHCR in the UK. She
will be joined by representatives from Right To Play, UKSport and Nike,
organisations active in delivering programmes which use sport to engage
refugees and equip them with tools to rebuild their lives.
Further details of the event, including of how to register for a place,
can be accessed by clicking here or visiting the UNA-UK YPN website at
http://www.una.org.uk/ypn. (Places are limited, so register early to avoid
disappointment.)
