Dear all
Just a quick email to report that the 2007 EGRG Annual Symposium took place at
the University of Sussex on 6-7th June. The two-day event was extremely
successful, with over 30 participants discussing 11 presentations by
postgraduate students on the first day, and six presentations on the topic of
'Global commodity chains, global value chains and global production networks:
governance and development' on the second day.
The EGRG website now contains the powerpoint slides from all 17
presentations as
well as a report on the workshop by David Phillips (Newcastle University). The
web address is: http://www.econgeog.org.uk/symposium2007.html
Many thanks to all those in participated, and in particular to Mick Dunford
(University of Sussex) for being such an excellent organiser and host!
Looking ahead, the 2008 symposium is being organised by Gavin Bridge and Tomas
Frederiksen and will take place at the University of Manchester, in early May
2008, on the topic of 'Economy, space, nature: economic geographies and
environment'. Further information will be forthcoming in the autumn!
Best wishes
Neil Coe
