Hi All
I am currently working on an exhibition here at the Whitworth Art Gallery
for next summer exploring Child Art. It will look at the teaching of
children's art (with a focus on Marion Richardson and Franz Cizek),links to
modernism, the notion of the child as artist or collaborator in the artistic
process during the early 20th century and now. I'm also keen to explore
contemporary practice, in particular artists who draw on children's art in
their own work or have been influenced by children's art. Does anyone have
any suggestions of artists working in this way or has anyone come across
interesting related exhibitions, articles they could recommend?
Finally, we are hoping to commission 2 pieces of contemporary work which
explore what child art looks like in 2007-8 (possibly with a focus on
collaborative practice) - any suggestions for where we might look for this
kind of approach (perhaps more live art focused?)
Any advice or suggestions would be really appreciated.
Many thanks
Esme
