Hi,
I am just beginning to use Fortran unformatted I/O and have a (likely naive)
question. Is it possible to skip a record whose length I do not know? I am
not sure if record lengths are at all stored in the file or whether one must
always remember how the file was written and read it in the same way.
I find embedding some comments (as strings) in the unformatted files useful
but am finding that I have to either write the LEN_TRIM of the strings to the
file or use fixed-max-length strings?
Thanks,
Aleks
