Tim suggested that we might as well treat Ctrl as synonymous with Alt, so
I have put that in. Thus if you stick with F1-F8 and Ctrl/Alt F1-F8 you
should be able to move projects between Mac and Linux at least. (Not sure
this is a big problem for anyone though.)
And I forgot to mention. On the Mac there are two modes for the F keys,
determined by a setting in the "Keyboard and Mouse" System Preferences.
In the Keyboard frame if you don't have the "Use the F1-F12 keys to
control software features" checked then you have to use the "fn" key in
combination with the F keys (so then if you want Alt-F1, for example, you
need to press the F1 key and the alt key and the fn key).
