1.2 Inaugural Learning Technologist of the Year Award
The Award's overall purpose is to celebrate and reward excellent
practice and outstanding achievement in the learning technology field.
The Award replaces the e-Tutor and e-Tool of the Year Awards previously
run by the Higher Education Academy. It is open to individual members of
ALT and to individuals and teams based in ALT member organisations
worldwide.
The Award will be judged by a panel chaired by Gilly Salmon, Professor
of E-learning & Learning Technologies at the University of Leicester. It
will be presented in Nottingham at the ALT conference on 5 September
2007, by Dr Peter Norvig, Director of Research at Google.

2. Association events
2.1 CMALT workshops
CMALT is a simple, peer-based accreditation scheme for learning
technologists and for people with learning technology as an important
part of their role. These workshops are aimed at ALT members and non-
members, wherever they are employed, who are thinking about undertaking
CMALT and want to find out more, or who have made a start on their
application and want support. The workshops will be run on open,
participative lines, with plenty of opportunity for questions and
discussion.

7. Invitations to tender
7.1 The Research Information Network (RIN)
...is looking to commission an assessment of the economics of all stages
in the lifecycle of the scholarly communications process in the UK,
involving a review and analysis of the costs (cash and non-cash)
incurred by the main agents involved in the various stages of that
process, and the sources, nature and scale of the funding and other
resources made available to meet those costs. The RIN is currently
seeking expressions of interest from research groups or consultancies
that might wish to bid for this project. Please contact Stephane

7.2 JISC ITT Business Development Study
... a study to explore the needs of the JISC Executive, and the Services
and Projects it funds, for business development expertise and to propose
