"Some aspects of multiple testing in whole genome association scans"
It has recently become possible to measure genetic markers at high
density across the whole genome, and the first scans for association to
common disease have recently been performed. Multiplicity can be a
serious issues for these studies, as a small number of true effects
need to be identified in a sea of noise. I will discuss some current
problems including: establishing a common genome-wide significance
level, incorporating Bayesian reasoning, and reducing the computational
burden of permutation tests. Some practical solutions are suggested.
