Salary: £24402-£31840 per annum (Level 7)
Limit of tenure - currently 31 December 2008
Applications are invited for the above post. The research involves the harmonisation and compilation of three different datasets from three large clinicopathological studies in the elderly to create the largest dataset worldwide on population-based controls with data from neuropathological studies. This will provide the analysis opportunity for new exploration of key questions about dementia, such as whether individuals with higher educational levels are protected from dementia because of greater capacity to compensate for similar levels of neuropathology or are at least risk of Alzheimer's type or vascular pathologies. The post-holder will be required to undertake both the harmonisation and analysis stages of the proposal.
The post-holder will have a statistical/numerate qualification preferably at a higher degree. A PhD, either awarded or due for completion, in a numerate subject or three years post-graduate experience is desirable. Demonstrable statistical analysis and database expertise is required together with a research background. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are also required. The post-holder will be based in Cambridge, though some travel within the UK and to Finland is required to access the data.
