> Dear Colleagues,
>
> NATCOR is a new national taught course centre in Operational Research
> (OR) for doctoral students . It is one of six such taught course
> centres funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research
> Council (EPSRC) as part of a drive to deepen and broaden PhD studies
> in the UK across the mathematical sciences. These new centres include
> APTS, the national programme in Statistics.
>
I have been encouraged by EPSRC to advertise NATCOR's activities as
widely as possible. The courses will be of interest to doctoral students
in statistics groups whose research has an OR focus. Further, our
provision gives students from other areas of mathematics an opportunity
to develop skills and knowledge of direct industrial relevance..
> NATCOR's website has just gone live and may now be accessed at

>
> The website is still under active development, but you can already
> find details there of the courses we shall be giving in the academic
> year 2007-8. Registration for these courses will open in September. If
> you have any comments or questions related to the website or, indeed,
> to any aspect of NATCOR's activities, do please get in touch.

> Sincerely, Kevin Glazebrook
