Basic Qualifications
With an MSc/PhD (or equivalent) in Statistics or a related subject you
will have experience working as a statistician in an environment demanding
a wide knowledge of applied statistics relevant to the pharmaceutical
industry. To be successful in this role you will have the ability to make
an impact in drug projects prior to Proof of Concept. Your experience
should include working as a consultant/principal statistician on drug
project teams in early and/or late phase development programmes. Having
worked in the pharmaceutical industry within the regulatory arena would
also be an advantage. You will also have demonstrated an ability to make
an impact within a cross-functional team to influence at all levels in the
organisation.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated abilities in at least one or more of the following would be
advantageous:
•Pharmacokinetic/Pharmacodynamic modelling and their application within
the clinical trial arena.
•Simulation methodology using a variety of software packages, with
examples of utility in clinical trials.
•Mixed models and use of SAS Proc MIXED.
•Dose response methodology, including assessment of non-linear dose
response.
•Bayesian statistical methods, crossover trials and a proven track record
with respect to their application in the pharmaceutical industry.
•Application of multivariate analyses in clinical trials.
•Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
•Ability to effectively juggle priorities and manage conflicting demands
in a high pressure, constantly changing environment.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrated in a
global environment.
•Ability to adapt communication styles to best suit the audience.
•A track record of publications and a wide network of industry and/or
academic contacts would also be considered advantageous.
Details
This is a key role within the Biostatistics and Programming Development
Partners group that supports drug project teams in developing, embedding
and influencing the use of innovative methodologies within project teams,
the Clinical matrix and other parts of the organisation. The role will
provide consultancy and training to statisticians and others customer
groups, as appropriate. The role may also involve working in close
collaboration with the Research Statistics Unit to drive forward the
implementation of specific projects.
The candidate must be an experienced statistical consultant, have good
leadership and networking skills and be an excellent communicator. Other
attributes include: proven influencing and assertiveness skills,
credibility in interactions in the clinical trial matrix and the ability
to work internationally. Experience of supervision, coaching or mentoring
would also be an advantage as would a proven track record of embedding new
methodology within the clinical trial arena.
