A statistician is required to join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team
working on large-scale research into the epidemiology of acute
respiratory diseases including influenza.
The main focus is on the design of field studies of acute respiratory
disease transmission in the community including randomized controlled
trials, and the analysis of resulting data using statistical and
mathematical models. Other duties will include statistical analysis of
infectious disease data, collaborating with colleagues in the School of
Public Health and providing expert statistical input on their research
projects (in a variety of areas of public health), and contributing to
statistics teaching.
Candidates should possess a relevant first degree in mathematics,
statistics or a related discipline, and a relevant postgraduate degree
in medical statistics or a related discipline. The appointment will initially
be
for up to 2 years on the Senior Research Assistant or Postdoctoral
Fellow grades within a salary scale equivalent to approximately GBP22,000
to GBP28,000 per annum according to qualifications and experience. Start date is
flexible, but ideally autumn 2007.
