This is an exciting opportunity for an epidemiologist, statistician, health services researcher or computer scientist to support the Imperial College component of the VOTES (Virtual Organisation of Trials and Epidemiological Studies) Project, which is funded by the UK Medical Research Council as part of its E-Science initiative. You will also support an NHS-funded project on applying case-mix measurement in primary care.
You will work with the other members of the VOTES team, in London and elsewhere, to develop methods for using routinely collected clinical information to identify patients for inclusion in clinical trials and epidemiological studies. You will also extract and analyse data from general practice and other NHS information systems. You will have at least a BSc or equivalent, an understanding of the use of Read codes and MIQUEST and proven ability to generate and analyse data.
The appointment is full-time for one year, starting as soon as possible and no later than 1 October 2007. Appointment to a particular grade will depend upon qualifications and experience.
