Subject: chasing a long-lost article
I wonder if you or colleagues in the French lecturing fraternity could
help me here. I'm chasing a copy of this article
Erigna, D. (1974) Enseigner, c'est choisir: vocabulaire-verwerving.
Levende Talen, 306, pp.260-267.
This appears to be one of the few sources which actually puts a figure
on the level of vocabulary size expected on O level students back in the
days when we had O level. It suggests a figure, apparently, of 4000 to
5000 words which would match rather neatly the anecdotal figures people
give me, and the type of figures I get when I test people who took O
level and haven't used their French since.
A sight of the original would be really useful. Perhaps someone has it
in a file.
