Hello all,
The Centre for Excellence in Media Practice is in the final stages of
producing an e-tool for self and peer assessment. This e-tool has developed
from a FDTL project called GWAMP that ran from 2000-2004, and was concerned
with sharing and disseminating good practice in group work and assessment,
with a focus on media practice. The e-tool is named CASPAR, which stands
for Computer Assisted Self and Peer Assessment Ratings.
CASPAR contains tools to support and aid tutor moderation, and is a 'one
stop shop' for facilitating self / peer assessment. It is fully
customisable, and has at its heart a focus on formative feedback which
supports student development of group working skills.
We have piloted CASPAR here in Bournemouth University, and are currently re-
building the e-tool from the ground up in such a way that it can be easily
implemented by other institutions.
This (free) tool should be available by the end of the summer. I have put
together a JISC-MAIL group, entitled CASPAR-ASSESSMENT. Please join the
group if you are interested in using CASPAR. Here is a link to join the
group:
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?SUBED1=caspar-assessment&A=1
The purpose of the list is two-fold. Firstly, to gather key information of
those who wish to use the e-tool next year, and secondly, once it is being
used, to allow users to share good practice, and receive updates and news.
Please feel free to pass the link on to anyone else you know who may wish
to use CASPAR.
Once people have joined, I will use the list to post some more up to date
information on CASPAR's developments.
Many thanks, and kind regards,
Andrew Ireland
