There has been a great deal of exciting and innovative work on
Scotland 1450-1650 in recent years. By bringing together scholars
from a variety of fields, the editors envisage that potential new
directions in Scottish Studies will be explored in a period which
witnesses different kinds of ?transformational disorder?: warfare,
plague, the Protestant Reformation, the move of the monarch to England
in 1603, the development of Scottish Renaissance literature, music,
and architecture, and economic change and disruption.
The theme is intended to be interpreted broadly and could include such
topics as political crisis, religious controversy, the changing nature
of the law and crime, literary disputes and flyting, cultural
displacement caused by war or the move of the royal court to England
in 1603, architectural and artistic changes, the impact of plague, the
witchhunt, etc. Essays taking an interdisciplinary approach are
particularly encouraged.
Essays should be approximately 8000 words in length and written in
English or French. The due date for submission of essays for
consideration is 15 September 2007. The journal engages in blind peer
review, so identifying details should be omitted from the body of the
submitted essay. Essays should be submitted to the managing editor at
[log in to unmask], accompanied by a 100 word abstract.
