Thank you to everyone who has replied to this request. I will reply to
you all separately off-list
I was hoping that there might be some more photos pre 1965 or
thereabouts. There is a suggestion that the buildings were in better
shape before that time.
Now for the next question. We have a description in the Geological
Survey Spec Rep Min Res 1916 Barytes of the ore dressing processes.
These are great words, but it would be nice to have some drawings of
typical barytes dressing plants. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Pete Jackson

Hi,
I have a few slides taken on a field walk in 1977 views of the valleys
and
working sites, but no buildings. Also some underground shots.
Cheers

Dear List members,
North Pennines Archaeology Ltd has a contract to record the remains of
the
Hilton mine, in Scordale near Appleby in Cumbria.
The area includes the dressing floor, crushing mill and smeltmill. The
grid
coordinates are at NGR NY 7625 2262 and NY7633 2271.
We would very much like to have sight of any photographs of the
buildings
before they reached their present state. I write to ask whether any
list
members know of any photos of the site.
Thanks
Pete Jackson
