We're looking into the possibilties of using third party software for
forums on the 24 Hour Museum. Do any members of the list have experience
of using sites like Ning.com or other social networking sites?
My worry is that Ajax-enabled sites like Ning using lots of javascript,
and mixes of other technologies, may not be accessible to users of
alternative browsers, screenreaders and the like. They don't tend to
provide a lot of the access facilities we have come to expect (and are
legally required to try to provide) in the public web sector.
Do any MCG listers have observations about accessibility and web 2.0
apps or, come to that, recommendations of good simple, open source forum
apps we can look into?
