I do not agree about the calembouresque use of
the word "fascista" by Sciascia here. The
cultural strategy of the Counterreformation,
highly effective in both Italy and Germany, was
in fact a clever actualisation of the ancient
"divide et impera", seeding imaginary reasons of
division among those who are required to be
obedient. The "orazion picciola" of Sciascia cold
be well enlightened by the XXVI canto of the
Commedia.
