THES are part of TSL Education Ltd, which was bought last month (May
2007) by Charterhouse, from Exponent, who had previously bought the
company in 2006 from News International, who in turn bought the company
in 1981 from Thomson, who originally launched the THES back in 1971.
Still with the plot?
Interestingly both Charterhouse and Exponent are large Private Equity
Funds.

As I understand it from our media relations team it's to do with the
fact that the THES was sold off from News Corp last year and
traditionally they share the data with The Times. As the 2 papers now
have different owners they are arguing about who owns the data.
Best wishes,
Vikki

Please see below - does anyone know what issues the legal dispute
relates to?

Subject: Times League Tables - Good News??
Hi,
On the recommendation of Frances Lloyd from Swansea I emailed Ian Morton
at Universities UK who phoned me to tell me that the Times will not be
publishing the League Tables during June. There appears to be some
legal dispute going on (he's not aware of the details). It is even
conceivable that they will not be published at all this year, when you
take the timings into consideration. July would be ok, but a little
late, August pointless, who's around to comment?, September at it'll
clash with the Sunday Times and after then, probably too late to be of
use. Mystery solved.
