I don't think that's entirely fair, CERN (actually SA3) are doing quite
a bit of testing, but only on a restricted range of system
configurations. In fact YAIM 3.0.1 was first available about last
September, the reason it only just got released was that it repeatedly
failed in certification! I think the real problem is that people got
complacent about PPS testing. For a long time all we got were small bug
fixes which went through without any problems, so we moved to a
situation where updates were released to production only a week after
they went to the PPS, hence there was no time to do much testing there
(and in production a lot of sites applied the updates automatically).
Now we have more substantial updates with bugs in them, and PPS sites
are finding that there are all kinds of problems and they can't even
finish installing in a week. Hopefully it will be backed off to allow at
least two or three weeks there. Even so, the PPS will never catch
scalability problems like this one.
