Dear colleagues,

As previously announced the next meeting of the Space Weather Working Team will take place in Brussels on 10 May 2007. The meeting will start at 10:00 and finish around 16:30, with a break at 13:00 for a sandwich lunch kindly provided by our hosts. If you plan to attend, please could you let me know as soon as possible. Please see the bottom of this email for details of practical arrangements: travel, hotels, etc.

The meeting will be hosted by the SIDC (Solar Influences Data analysis Center, http://sidc.be) of the Royal Observatory of Belgium (ROB, http://www.astro.oma.be). The ROB is located in the South of Brussels (Avenue Circulaire -3- Ringlaan, 1180 Ukkel). The meeting will take place in the "Meridian Room" (see plan of ROB available at http://listserv.cclrc.ac.uk/files/SWWT/ROBplan.pdf).

I propose the following draft agenda. I suggest that the main focus of the meeting be a discussion on space weather activities in FP7 (item 3) and especially to explore ideas for on an infrastructure proposal (I3) on terrestrial space weather (item 3.c). The other urgent issue is to discuss the proposal for a European space weather journal (item 4). So I propose that we include other items (5 to 7) as time allows on the day. Please let me know if there are any other issues that you would like to highlight at this meeting.

1. Introduction and welcome, agree agenda

2. Review actions from last SWWT meeting

3. Space weather and FP7
a. activities in current calls
b. planetary space weather/EuroPlanet
c. building an I3 for terrestrial space weather

4. A European Space Weather journal?

5. Highlights of other SW activities: ESA, national activities, COST 296 & 724, DIAS

6. Plans for ESSW4

7. News and key issues from the SWWT topical groups

8. Summarise actions

9. AOB

Concerning the infrastructure proposal (I3) on terrestrial space weather, I have received a number of proposals in response to my call for ideas (email of 13 April). Many thanks to all who have contributed ideas. I will produce and circulate a consolidated list over the coming weekend.

Concerning the space weather journal, there are various options to do this in conjunction with EGU, e.g. do we want to focus on science of space weather or have a broader journal that can include high-quality papers on applications and programmatics. We need to establish a community response, via SWWT and COST 724, ahead of EGU's autumn Council meeting.

Best regards,
Mike
