I think it will run a lot faster if you reduce the number of voxels.
I guess you have done some 'reslicing' earlier on in the processing
stream. If you reslice again and make the images 3x3x3mm and not
the higher resolution which I assume you have (2 x 2 x 2 ?), then
processing should be much, much faster.
