We are seeking to appoint a Research Officer/Fellow to work on a British
Academy funded project investigating the motivations and experiences of UK
students and graduates who have pursued, or intend to pursue, education
overseas for the whole of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree. The
project is based on 40 in-depth interviews with young adults who are
seriously thinking about studying overseas and 40 interviews with those
who have returned to the UK after studying abroad.
The successful applicant is likely to have a demonstrable knowledge of and
interest in qualitative research methods. Experience of conducting
individual in-depth interviews is essential. Familiarity with the
substantive areas of the sociology of education or social geography would
be an advantage. You will have strong skills in written and oral
communication and a commitment to team working. Good organisational and IT
skills are essential, as well as the ability to work independently.
