one thing to remember that in an EDRMS you don't necessarily want to
drill down to the folder level. what you want to do is use the search
function associated with the application.
this is one of the problems that I see more and more as organizations
move from the physical ODT (on dead trees) world of records management
to the world of bits and bytes RM. you need to think beyond the
traditional way of managing records. Drilling down or browsing is
fairly efficient in the physical world, but in the electronic world
not very efficient. Rather you use the search capabilities of your
EDRMS to find what you are looking for. you can even establish and
maintain search templates that are used over and over again.
typically there is no limit as to how many records/documents can be
placed in an electronic folder, but remember that there are naturally
points within a business process that will allow you to create new
folders as needed.
