$90K in Chicago is not a princely sum. There are a number of US RM
jobs that are now above the $100K level and some approaching $150K. I
subscribe to several online job search engines and there is at least 1
RM job posted per day. Some employers are clueless as to what a RM
does, but they want one. One job advert a few months back required
that applicants have a fork-lift drivers license. That resulted in
quite a discussion on the recmgmt-l list.
One thing to be aware of is that many of the US based positions prefer
folks who have the CRM designation. The ICRM recently launched its
web-based testing so for individuals outside of the US taking the exam
has become somewhat easier. To learn more about the ICRM go here
www.icrm.org
What does help for positions in the US is to be knowledgeable about IT
issues, understanding compliance especially the regulations and laws
that affect the business you are applying to. The higher level RM
positions in the US are interfacing with C-level folks ie CEO, CTO,
CIO, General Counsel and others.
I will be glad to answer any questions
