We are the main UK government agency for funding research and
training in engineering and the physical sciences, investing around
£650 million a year in a broad range of subjects – from mathematics
to materials science, and from information technology to
structural engineering.
As a Research Portfolio Manager, you’ll help us identify high
calibre projects by developing relationships with leading
research scientists and engineers in academia, industry and
government plus research administrators in universities.
You’ll guide EPSRC’s investment towards the most promising
research ideas and research teams drawing on impartial advice
provided by peer review.
It’s an exciting, diverse role where personal impact counts.
So you’ll need excellent presentation and communication skills, the
ability to influence others, whilst maintaining an unbiased approach
to your research portfolio.We're looking for a strong interest in
management and administration of science along with a good
degree and an interest in the physical sciences or engineering.
Candidates should ideally have several years' experience in a science
related field or a PhD, though high calibre graduates who can
demonstrate a potential to succeed in the role will also be considered.
Travel in the UK is an important part of the role.
