The pain continues. This kind of crazy mismanagement, where the
statistics rule the dollar and the dollar rules the people, is rampant
in all Western countries, as far as I can tell. I used to fight it on
behalf of other people, after suffering from it a little myself and
also after having at one stage been mildly well-off. Australian social
and medical systems seem to belittle the little people and bleed them
as much as possible, then damn them for being 'weak' and 'useless'. I
went from company director to cleaning toilets in a detox centre in
quick succession, so I feel what Ken is going through. The medical
system wanted me to pay close to $200A for a shrink - two visits a
week would have cost more than my salary. And the first six weeks or
so was going to be at my 100% expense if I had a job, but free if I
didn't. A strange world where it is more beneficial to be unemployed.
Good on you, Ken, for being a living example of the shit that goes
down. You were brave to let 'em print your story. We hope it does
somebody some good, but unfortunately probably not you.
Cheers -
Andrew
