Parenting: an interdisciplinary workshop. Friday 6 July 2007. Organised by
CIRF, in association with CRASSH, Cambridge.
Registration now open
This one day symposium brings together researchers from a range of
disciplines to discuss child rearing in different societies from antiquity
to the present day. Themes explored in the papers will include: ideals of
parenting and parents' experiences beyond these ideals; nurture and choice;
the gendering of parenting; and parental rights and responsibilities in the
eyes of the state.
Speakers include: Joanne Bailey, Jo Bridgeman, Francoise Barbira-Freedman,
Loraine Gelsthorpe, Susan Golombok, Martin Richards, Marilyn Strathern,
Deborah Thom, and Samantha Williams.
Registration is now open for the conference. Please find attached the
programme for the day and the registration form. Completed registration
forms should be sent to CRASSH by Friday 29 June 2007.
