Can you just clarify what sort of hives you are talking about here.....i.e. were they there after you were stung or before?

Hi Mary,
I got stung on the back of the neck last weekend when managing my hives. I don't think I'd want to lie down with my lower limbs raised with 30,000 or so bees milling around. SCARY!!! :0)
Regards, Bob

Hi Nicola
Epipens are P.O.M.s and if the GP assesses the risk to be great enough then, he/she will prescribe.
Going back to my 'ging gang gooly days' of Beaver Cub/ Brownie leader, those children known to be at risk of anaphylactic reactions handed their epipens over to us leaders when out and about or at meetings. I think the children were more confident than most of the leaders and probably thought it would count as badge work if one of their chums took ill!
The training pack is from www.epipen.co.uk. It includes DVD, mock epipen and patient information leaflets. I have tailored mine to the apiarists by adding a few bits for my training session insofar as advising that anyone who has been stung/bitten should lie down with lower limbs raised. This was advice given by the 'anaphylaxis campaign'.
Good luck.
Best wishes
Mary
