The Art of Public Health – Lobbying in Action
Thursday 24 May 2007
A bursary scheme is available for all students and SpRs/SHOs and SpT
trainees in Public Health. For further information regarding bursaries,
please contact Thea Campkin
A popular definition of public health is "The science and art of preventing
disease, prolonging life and promoting health through organised efforts of
society." (Sir Donald Acheson). Our May event will be an opportunity to
explore and learn more about lobbying and politics, a key part of the art
of public health. Local area agreements, European and national legislation
and the new market forces of plurality of provider’s means that lobbying
and being politically savvy are essential skills for public health
practitioners. We aim to provide access to some of the artists of public
health in the new millennium in this meeting.
For further information on this meeting or to book on-line visit:

Ms Caroline Flint MP, the current Public Health Minister will give the
keynote speech
