Dear all
The British Society for the History of Science List of Theses has recently been
updated, and now includes over 650 ongoing or completed postgraduate
dissertations in the history of science, technology and medicine in the UK and
Ireland. Many new theses commenced since 2005 have been added, and the listing
of completed theses has been extended back to 1999.
The List is freely available at
www.bshs.org.uk/theses
The update process has brought to light some gaps in coverage, and it is likely
that some of the older records are out of date. Updates and corrections from
departments, supervisors and students are very welcome: please send these to
<theses (at) bshs.org.uk> (not by reply to this message.)
Further information about the List of Theses
--------------------------------------------
The List appeared until 2001 as an annual print publication to members. Since
that date it has been published cumulatively at intervals on the Society's
website. It is compiled from institutional websites, postgraduate members'
details solicited at conferences, responses to our surveys of institutions, and
individual correspondence.
The current edition is intended to cover as fully as possible the period from
1999 onwards, and incorporates data on completed theses from print Lists 30, 31
and 32.
BSHS respects the privacy of individual scholars and does not reproduce thesis
information it does not believe to be in the public domain. We do not, by
policy, include in the List information on withdrawn or suspended theses.
The List was most recently updated by Jakob Bek-Thomsen, and includes content
researched by James Sumner and Viviane Quirke.
