OXFORD UNIVERSITY LIBRARY SERVICES
BODLEIAN LIBRARY
TECHNICAL SERVICES
TEMPORARY SENIOR LIBRARY ASSISTANT, EASEL PROJECT
Grade 4: £17,636 £20,437 p.a.
Applications are invited for a temporary Senior Library Assistant to
join the small and friendly EASEL Project Team in the Bodleian Library
Technical Services department. The position is available in the first
instance until September 30th 2008, although an extension for a further
year might be possible.
Through a combination of upgrading existing OLIS serials records, copy
or original cataloguing the goal of the project team is to improve
access to serials holdings by recording and linking together each change
or merge of title, creating retrospective summary holdings of the
individual titles, and setting up current titles for online
registration. Because serials processing is closely linked with the
creation and maintenance of complex holdings and registration
information, the postholder will be fully trained to work across both
the Cataloguing and Serials modules of the local Oxford automated
library management system.
Applicants should have cataloguing experience, preferably in the area of
serials, but full training will be given if required. Other general
requirements include a generally positive and innovative attitude
towards library automation, the ability to work conscientiously and
independently, self motivation, high standards, and dependability.
