UCD Library has a presence in Second Life (SL) in the cybrary city area of
infoisland. While it is early days (we are there since March) we have seen
some signs of promise and are working on developing our services 'in world'.
I would be happy to brief others thinking about entering SL about our
experiences to date. For a flavour of what we've been doing please see the
following posts on our Reader Services blog and a link from our website:

and of course visit us in second life using this slurl (note you must have
SL installed on your PC):

Never heard of it! Is it anything to do with early retirement? If so
(should anyone who knows me or knew me in the past wish to know) I shall
be entering my second life in August.

Subject: second life
A few of the boys I work with are becoming enthusiastic about second
life, which seems dangerous to me for aging men, but it did set my mind
working on what a library would look like in second life, rather than
the dublin core grep world we currently operate.
Is anyone making anything operational in any of the learning and
teaching and research environments, which we can demonstrate rather than
starting from scratch?
