Whatever type of library you work in, as a manager or team leader you are
faced every day with issues that require robust problem solving and decision
making skills and often it can seem difficult to know where to start in
analysing the situation.
This is a one day course introducing innovative tools for problem solving,
and decision making.
This course will teach you some of the best techniques for analytical
problem solving and will give you the confidence to work effectively and
efficiently with any situation you may find yourself tackling, using robust,
proven techniques.
This course is designed for team leaders, managers, and anyone working in
any type of library, who would like to apply effective problem solving
techniques to improve progress and performance and solve problems on any
scale.
Delegates will learn how to:
• Apply problem solving techniques within all areas of library operations
and management
• Accelerate problem solving by applying logical thinking
• Use methods to facilitate problem solving in workshops and meetings
• Encourage creative thinking to maximize the problem solving techniques
The day runs from 9.30am to 4.30pm and the topics covered will include:
• Techniques and tools for facilitating problem resolution
• 5Ws and 5Hs tool
• Process mapping and measles charting for problem solving
• Logic tree analysis
• Root cause analysis
• Force Field Analysis
• Fishbone diagrams
• Practical applications of the tools and techniques
