Some background information:
The Clinical Knowledge Summaries service (CKS) is a NHS funded
resource that provides ready access to practical and reliable clinical
knowledge about the common conditions managed in primary and first contact
care.
It helps healthcare professionals confidently make evidence-based
decisions about the healthcare of their patients and provides them
with the know-how to safely put these decisions into action.
DynaMed is a clinical reference tool designed to provide doctors and
other healthcare professionals with the best available evidence to
support clinical decision making. It is developed by a team based in
Ipswich Massachusetts, USA and is owned and provided by EBSCO
Publishing.
With clinically-organized summaries for nearly 2,000 topics, DynaMed
has been shown to answer most clinical questions during practice. Based on
the results of a study published in Annals of Family Medicine
(November/December 2005), not only did primary care clinicians answer
more clinical questions with access to DynaMed than without DynaMed,
but these clinicians also found more answers in DynaMed that changed
clinical decisions.
Note: from early summer CKS will provide access to DynaMed
SCHIN Ltd, as main contractor, and EBSCO Publishing were awarded the
contract in October 2006 to provide the Clinical Knowledge Summaries
service for NHS England.
The training session will provide information on CKS and also DynaMed.
