You could have a look into Landsberg's very interesting article
'Prosthetic Memory: the ethics and politics of memory in an age of
mass culture' in Grainge's (ed.) Film and Memory. Some of the other
articles might also be of use. There is another work by Landy, called
the Historical Film. History and Memory in Media, which deplores this
relationship somewhat less intensive.
Perhaps the standard pieces on memory and visual culture, by amongst
others Assman and Rigney are helpful.
