*****Call for papers for the UK Social Network Conference*****
13-14 July 2007
Queen Mary College
University of London
E1 4NS London
United Kingdom
The UK Social Network Conference offers an interdisciplinary venue for
social and behavioural scientists, mathematicians, computer scientists,
physicists, statisticians, and others to present their work in the area of
social networks. The primary objective of the Conference is to facilitate
interactions between the many different disciplines interested in network
science. The Conference provides a unique opportunity for the dissemination
and debate of recent advances in experimental, theoretical and applied
network research.
We invite submissions of extended abstracts on theories, methods, or
applications of social network analysis. Submission of full papers is not
required. Extended abstracts should be of no more than three pages and
clearly indicate either the research purpose, methodology, and findings, or
the discussion area and implications for the field. Topics include, but are
not limited to:
Models of networks (Random graph models; "Small-world" networks;
"Scale-free" networks)
Empirical studies of cross-sectional and longitudinal network datasets
Knowledge and communication networks
Social network analysis of communities of practice
Network evolution and growth mechanisms
Information diffusion in social networks
Affiliation networks
Epidemics and rumors in networks
Robustness of networks
Interpersonal influence, contagion, and collective decision-making
Searching networks
Algorithms for detecting community structure
Geographical clusters, networks, and innovation
Effects of network structure and dynamics on knowledge transfer and sharing
Intra- and inter-organisational networks
Social capital, structural holes and Simmelian ties
Online communities and computer networks
Computational models and agent-based simulations of networks
Networks and terrorism
