PN Sussex 368 s.n. Parrock gives the DB spelling Apedroc. OED first records "paddock" in 1547. So what is the -d- doing in the DB form? Is it just a one-off oddity, or had OE pearroc already started to develop to paddock in 1086? (MED only records par(r)o(c)k etc. from 1283 to 1456.)
Keith
PS: and where does the A- come from?
