Dear Sahra
I teach a postgraduate Unit, 'Drawing on Life'. Many of my students,
from different art and design disciplines, lack basic drawing
skills. My ten-week course seems to help most of them gain basic
competence and make this appropriate to their practice. The two main
barriers I find with these mature students is first 'permission' and
linked 'confidence'. Indeed, one of the sessions is entitled 'Fear
of Drawing'. The course is am fusion of life drawing and a seminar
on ecological art, so there is more than one focus and I introduce
new materials on a weekly basis. I also change the model every week
(male/female, young/old, dark/fair) and insist on addressing the
model by their name, introducing them to the students as a real
person, with a real life. I've attached some information.
Your work is very important, psychologically and sociologically, as
well as artistically.
Good luck
David
