Have you considered the GAMES market. i.e. I understand environmental
artists work for companies such as RARE - creating environments for
computer games and online environments?
In the digital image courses at London Met, CCTM, multimedia, where
I teach, we are using both bitmaps and vectors and compositing to
create "digital drawings" with a range of texture, form and line,
including storyboards and animatics. Thus generating a hybrid between
tradition drawing and computer-based graphics. Often I do not enjoy
some current CGI but feel that new hybrid forms are being generated -
combining on the one hand - the excitement of "the mark on the page"
" taking a line for a walk" - the modernist concern with the
materials and visual language and on the other hand - the plastic
coated 3/d realism of some CGI.
I was wondering if anyone out there - has similar interests and
concerns - i.e. hybrid forms coming out of digital drawing and non-
digital drawing.
