PRESS RELEASE
Joining forces for growth and jobs: Commission, Member States and
industry to pool investment in strategic research programmes (15 May
2007)A new era of research and development funding began on 15 May 2007
with the adoption of proposals by the European Commission to launch the
first ever Europe-wide public-private R&D partnerships. The Commission
presented two Joint Technology Initiatives (JTIs) on Embedded Computing
Systems and Innovative Medicines. These JTIs will pool industry, Member
States and Commission resources into targeted research programmes.

24 October 2007 - 26 October 2007 The Hague, The NetherlandsThis is the
seventeenth in a series of Annual Conferences supported by the European
Commission, with delegates coming from commercial, government and
research organisations around the world to share knowledge and
experience, lessons learnt and good practice. This year's core thematic
areas include ICT for Networked Enterprise, eGovernment and eDemocracy,
Collaborative Working Environments, eHealth, Knowledge and Content
Technologies, Security and Identity Management and Technology Enhanced
Learning and ICT Skills. A Call for Exhibitors has been launched.
Applications are accepted up to 14 July.

Accessible and Inclusive ICT - Research Workshops
21 May 2007 Brussels, BelgiumE-Inclusion research at European level is
addressing several new areas. In order to take stock of these areas and
to map out the future research agenda of these topics, three specific
workshops are organised:
Social inclusion of marginalised young people; Brain Computer
Interaction-based assistive systems; Computer simulation of user
interaction.
These workshops are in addition to the information day to be held on
22nd May.

ICT for Environmental Management and Energy Efficiency :
Information event on the forthcoming ICT call for proposals
21 May 2007 Prague, Czech RepublicThe event, organised by the European
Commission with support of the Ministry of the Environment and the
Technology Centre of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, will
give information on the five research topics related to environmental
sustainability and energy efficiency that will be called for in the
second ICT call in 2007. This will provide a good occasion for
proposers, including those from the New Member States, to meet and share
their project ideas during the networking part of the event.
Participation to the event is free but prior registration is required.

Accessible and Inclusive ICT - Information day on the 2nd
call
22 May 2007 Brussels, BelgiumThis information event covers the second
call for proposals under the "Accessible and Inclusive ICT" objective
of Challenge 7 "Independent living and inclusion" of the ICT Work
Programme (7th Framework Programme).
Discussions and exchanges will focus on the following topics : Embedding
accessibility in mainstream ICT; Computer simulation of the user
interaction; Non-invasive Brain Computer Interaction; ICT for Social
Inclusion of young people.
